Rich serves as President of California and Hawaii American Water where he and his team are responsible for the operation of water and wastewater systems serving approximately 680,000 people. He is a Professional Engineer with over 25 years of experience in the water and wastewater fields, working as both an engineering consultant and owner. He was significantly involved with the $83M Carmel river Reroute and San Clemente Dam Removal Project which removed an unsafe dam and restored fish passage. He was also involved in the $322M Monterey Peninsula Water Supply Project to replace over 70% of the service area’s water supply with a desalination plant, over 20 miles of main, increased Aquifer Storage and Recovery, and a groundwater replenishment component using recycled water. Rich received his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky.
