Dora Nakafuji

Strategy and Innovation, Kamehameha Schools

Dora Nakafuji is a member of the Strategy and Innovation Group at Kamehameha Schools with over 15 years of experience in collaborative partnerships to deploy innovative technologies for water, energy, transportation and workforce development. Previously she served as the Director of Renewable Energy Planning at Hawaiian Electric Company where she generated $30M of grant funding to team with industry partners to enable renewable integration tools including real-time renewable forecasting, remote field sensor monitoring capabilities, advance visualization tools, data analytics and “smart” technologies to inform transformation. Dr Nakafuji graduated from the University of California at Davis with a Ph.D. in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering and holds a patent for advance micro-device controls for wind turbines.  Prior to Hawaii, she was the technical lead for the Wind Energy Program at the California Energy Commission and served as a staff researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory supporting national sustainability and critical infrastructures.
